Yes it is that time and this first meet is the Ontario University Association Meet which this year is being held at the Laurentian pool. As mentioned in a previous email or two, SLSC “runs” the meet, i.e. the swim club supplies officials (Referees, Starters, Strokes & Turns, timers, safety marshals, etc.). University teams will supply timers for the day sessions but all remaining positions are to be filled by SLSC, that’s us! Sean Thompson sent out an email reminding us that this meet is part our commitment just like the other meets we (SLSC) host.

The pool will have the bulkhead in the middle meaning it is a short course event - deep end only. For a session 3 timers/lane x 8 lanes = 24 timers. Officials meet 30 minutes prior to start, usually in the back room near the south entrance to the Ben Avery (pool) building.
At the start of warm-up 4 safety marshals are required on deck with those orange vests. Session/meet refs are doing their job but won’t let swimmers into the pool for warm-up until the safety marshals are on deck. So, don’t be shy and offer your name please.
Doug Eastick has been good enough to set up a link to Google docs and it looks simpler than doodle. Click on the link and you’ll be directed to an Excel spreadsheet where you can enter your name in a cell with a red background, yellow if there are no more red cells available. No need to sign in either. The spreadsheet is auto-saved so don’t worry about that.
I’ve copied the hyperlink here:
Try it and let me know if you have any problems.
I will export the spreadsheet to Adobe pdf sometime in the afternoon or early evening Wednesday February 08th 2012 so if you have any subsequent changes/additions you’ll have to communicate with me directly.
As one swim parent said to me yesterday: “we do it for the swimmers”
Thanks for your commitment in advance,
