[Please see the note below from Patti Commito, Meet Manager]
Hi everyone, thank you all for making NEOR #1 a huge success for both the swimmers and the club. I hope you all have your white shirts laundered as I need to ask you to put them back on. As part of our relationship with Laurentian Varsity swimming we are committed to officiate at their swim meets as if they are our own. We are very fortunate to only have one Varsity home meet this year - unless you are a Varsity mom like myself and wish there were more.
The meet is November 1 and 2, next weekend. These meets are relatively shorter than ours as the sessions usually run only 2.5-3 hours compared to our marathon 4.5 hour sessions. This Varsity meet actually features some of our club swimmers as they are part of the NEOR All-Star team that has been invited to swim. Come and cheer them on.
The session on Saturday has warm up at 4:00 p.m. with a start at 5:00 p.m., with pizza to be served later for officials. Sunday, warm up is at 9:00 a.m. with a start at 10:00 a.m. Both sessions are single-ended.
If you are able to officiate, one day or both days- it will be greatly appreciated. Remember, some of the swimmers in the club may be looking for high school volunteering hours - it is a great place to get them - on deck watching swimming.
Please forward your name and your availability to me before Wednesday October 29th, so that I can report to Peter Hellstrom the Athletic Director that we have fulfilled our duties and that the meet will be officiated sufficiently.
Reply to commito@sympatico.ca Please don't assume that I know you will be there.
Have a great day, ciao Patti

Please be advised that the Laurentian Athletic building is hosting THREE major events running at the complex this weekend and your co-operation is appreciated. Additionally, there is construction in/around the athletic building so parking at the pool is by special access, and buses at the pool are prohibited.
For Parents, Spectators, Swimmers, Coaches
===============================
Parents, spectators, chaperones, etc. must park in Lot 11 (in front of the Medical School) and walk to the pool. Only specific meet officials and handicap vehicles will be able to park behind the pool in Lot 14. A list of officials will be supplied to security and only those on the list will be able to park in Lot 14. Please plan accordingly for increased travel time to the pool.
For Buses
=======
All buses must enter the University at the main entrance and loop around campus to the bottom on the hill beside the Alphonse Raymond Building. The swimmers and coaches must get out here and walk to the pool. This is also where your pick up will be. Buses must then turn left and park in Lot 15 off South Bay Road. No buses will be able to turn into the PHED building as there is construction going on and buses will be unable to turn around.
Thank, in advance, for your understanding, compliance, and cooperation.
Regards,
SLSC Meet Management

On behalf of Leslie McCue (SLSC Billet Coordinator), we have an *_urgent need_* for additional families to take billets for the swim meet this weekend. By hosting this NEOR meet, we as the host club, are *required* to provide billeting for this meet.
If you were holding off on putting your name forward earlier this week, *now is the time* to step up and make a difference to another swimmer from our region. If you were not even thinking about billeting, *now is the time* to say "yup, I will welcome swimmers into my home and demonstrate how giving, caring, and generous Sudbury swimming families can be." Please, on behalf of a girl from North Bay, or a boy from Timmins, open your home. You *can make a difference* in another swimmer's experience.
We have approximately 12 remaining swimmers that need families to stay with Saturday night -- 4 or 5 families are needed to accomodate them. The swimmers are generally billeted in groups of two or three.
Billeting is quite simple - you provide the billets with a place to sleep (nothing fancy - they bring sleeping bags and pillows), Saturday night supper and Sunday morning breakfast - possibly a packed lunch - but they usually just buy lunch at the pool. You are also responsible for getting them to and from the pool on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
So, pick up the phone can call Leslie at the number below, or send a message to timnles@sympatico.ca, or click REPLY right now to make a difference.
Please contact Leslie at
timnles@sympatico.ca or call 522-0200
Thank you,
Doug Eastick
SLSC Director of Communications
(our club handbook states the following in Section 5.5 on billeting)
http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dcmfpr6v_35g8wsnqdz
=============
5.5 Billeting
A unique feature in Ontario swimming is the Northeastern Ontario Region (NEOR) billeting practice that was introduced to keep the cost of travelling between clubs to a minimum. As a result of billeting there have been many long-lasting friendships between swimmers and families after swimming has finished.
What is billeting? The club that is hosting the swim meet offers a place to sleep and eat for the out of town swimmers. Each family that has swimmers in the host club is asked to accommodate 2 or 3 swimmers of the same age and sex.
All swimmers have their own sleeping bag and pillow. All that is required is a room (doesn’t have to be a bedroom) to sleep in. Host families are asked to provide out of town swimmers with evening supper, morning breakfast and a packed lunch. Suggestions for supper may include pasta dishes, which are inexpensive and quick to prepare.
Parent/supervision is required for swimmers under the age of 16. A parent must be present in the home while the swimmers are in the home. Guest swimmers should not be allowed to be on their own at any time. If there are any concerns about the behaviour of the guests, please contact SLSC’s Billet Chairperson immediately.
