Level 1 and Level 2 - training over the holidays

Hello Members,

With the practices coming up next week and during the holiday season, we would like to make certain your child brings with them their dry-land gear such as running shoes, shorts, shirt and a water bottle to every session (AM & PM). Your help in having your children arrive fully prepared to the pool is much appreciated.

Saturday Dec 20 - Level 1 practice @ 8:30am-10:30am

Please note that the training schedule for Level 1 swimmers this Saturday will be from 8:30am to 10:30am.

All other levels remain as-usual (8:30 am start for all, except Novice start at 9:30am).

New access to the LU changerooms

It appears that the new expansion of the facility is rolling along and effective immediately, access to the changerooms is from the New Expansion part of the building. The former doors just before the equipment desk are now locked.

I'm told that if you are in the lobby/couches area, head down the hallway past the gymnasium, and then head down the stairs to find the new entrance to the changerooms.

Youth Cup Day 2 - Finals

Hello Members,

Justin competed tonight in the consolation final for the 200m
Backstroke. He swam very well, equaling his strong performance of
this morning.

Placing 14th (15-17 Age Group)

Youth Cup - Day 2 prelims

Strong performances today on Day 2 of Youth Cup. We have Justin
Leclair who qualified for the consolation final in the 200m
Backstroke. His time qualifies him for the Eastern/Western National
Championship. Also, Colin's performance yesterday in the 200 Fly
qualified him for both Age Group Nationals and Ontario Cup (Senior
Provincial). Congratulations to Justin and Colin!!! I will update
after finals. I have posted the results below.

Christmas 2008 Training schedule

First of all, let me say that there are no practices scheduled for Novice, Level 4, nor Level 3 over Christmas holidays. Swimmers in those levels are encouraged by the coaches to build snow forts, snowmen, play hockey, shovel driveways, and other fun stuff. Significant dates below:

• Novice/L4/L3 Last Pratice: December 23
• Novice/L4/L3 Off from: December 24-January 4
• Novice/L4/L3 Resume Practice: January 5

For those in Varsity, Level 1, and Level 2, the training schedule provided by the coaches is attached. In the Excel file and the PDF, there is one sheet/page per level. Please make sure you are looking at the proper schedule.

Dec 6 - Saturday Practice - Level 2 at 6:30am-8:30am

The Level 2 practice will be moved to 6:30-8:30 AM this Saturday. We are going to have varsity, level 1 and level 2 swim together Saturday morning. No changes to level 3/4 and novice.

100 FR Challenge Tuesday December 9

A week from today (Tuesday December 9), it is Swim Canada's 100th Anniversary and each club will be swimming the 100 FR to celebrate. What we are hoping is that Level 3's could attend this session as well. They could attend this session as well as their regular Mon-Wed.

Virginia is looking into getting this sanctioned and Alain is registering SLSC online as a participant in this great event. We would need lots of parental support for timing and we would also need Dan (referee) to come as well. We are planning a 20-30 minute warm up with the whole club and varsity together - and then we will start the heats of the 100 FR.

The cost to the club is $1 per swimmer. Here is the link explaining the event. Proceeds go to the Jeno Tihanyi Bursary Fund.

Dear Swim Families- As you may have read (above) the club is hosting a 100 FR challenge on Tuesday December 9th....the $1 to swim the event will go to the Jeno Tihanyi Bursary Fund.

this will require many parents to come out and help time/start the challenge. The Level 3's have been asked to attend that evening as well. The Coaches think it would be great if the Novice swimmers could come out and cheer the swimmers on too!

To celebrate the event and with Christmas approaching- we thought perhaps we could have a pizza party afterwards in the Bahnuck Lounge- starting at 6:30 pm... this would be for ALL that attend ( parents/coaches/swimmers/cheerers! included)

To get a better idea on how many pizzas we should order- perhaps you could email if you and your swimmer(s) will be attending and volunteering for this challenge.

As mentioned above - a 20-30 minute warm up- starting at 4:30 pm-
