Sportlink, the Greater Sudbury Sport Council, is hosting a luncheon on November 4th, 2009 from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The keynote speaker is former SLSC swimmer, and Olympic Gold medalist, Alex Baumann.

Swim-A-Thon - Tuesday March 31st

Swimmmers, Families and Coaches,

The swim-a-thon will be held March 31st during regular swim practice.   All levels are asked to attend on this day.  A potluck supper will be held in the Bahnuk Lounge starting at 6 pm.   Families are asked to bring their favorite dish, the club will provide a main course of pasta.  Please coordinate with Leslie Jowsey and Leslie McCue.

We are looking forward to having all the families and coaches get together to enjoy.

Hello Swimmers Coaches and Families
 
This is a quick reminder that the swim a thon is taking place tomorrow (Tuesday March 31st) during regular swim practice- all levels are to attend please.  Please bring your pledge forms and monies to hand in- Sean Thompson will take your pledge forms.
 
The Potluck is for all family members, swimmers and coaches.  The club will provide the pasta but you are asked to bring your favorite dish- dessert- fruit- salads- whatever you choose.  Remember you will take your containers and left overs home if any.
 
If anyone is willing to assist Leslie McCue with set up/clean up that would be greatly appreciated.  The potluck will take place in the Bahnuck Lounge right after the swimathon.
 
Another quick reminder volunteers are needed to run the upcoming NEOR 4 meet- all help is greatly appreciated- either it be in the kitchen or on deck- please submit your name and time as required.  Thank you in advance. 
 
In addition - if you are able to take Billets- please do so. :)

SLSC Swim-a-thon March 25th 2009

Mark your calendars! Dig out those Swim-a-thon packages! Get Pledges and collect them!

Again this year we are offering a prize to the swimmer that raises the most money through the Swim a Thon.The prize will be an underwater MP-3 player.

We will be having our annual Swim A Thon on March 25th, 2009 followed by a pot luck supper for swimmers and families. All swim levels will be swimming on this day. Location within the building is to be determined.

The potluck will be starting at 6 pm. SLSC will be providing a main dish (pasta) and we ask that each family bring their favorite dish. Food can be coordinated through the Social Committee of Leslie McCue and Leslie Jowsey.

[Doug adds the following....] Please collect as much as you can. You may recall from a previous announcement that our grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation was predicated on increased fundraising including the Swim-a-thon. The email announcement to member was sent on February 4, 2009. Thanks.

Swim-a-thon packages

The swim-a-thon packages will be going home with the swimmers this week (January 26 to 30). Swim-A-Thon is the major national fundraising project in which most affiliated clubs in Canada participate. It promotes and finances amateur competitive swimming. The purpose of Swim-A-Thon is to raise money for the club through swimmers’ participation in a marathon swim through obtaining pledges for so much per length swum, or a pre-determined amount.

We will be holding the swim-a-thon in March and it will be followed by a team meal similar to previous years. When the date is finalized we will let you know.

We hope that each family will raise $100 in pledges. Again this year a prize will be given to the swimmer who raises the most money.

100 FR Challenge Tuesday December 9

A week from today (Tuesday December 9), it is Swim Canada's 100th Anniversary and each club will be swimming the 100 FR to celebrate. What we are hoping is that Level 3's could attend this session as well. They could attend this session as well as their regular Mon-Wed.

Virginia is looking into getting this sanctioned and Alain is registering SLSC online as a participant in this great event. We would need lots of parental support for timing and we would also need Dan (referee) to come as well. We are planning a 20-30 minute warm up with the whole club and varsity together - and then we will start the heats of the 100 FR.

The cost to the club is $1 per swimmer. Here is the link explaining the event. Proceeds go to the Jeno Tihanyi Bursary Fund.

Dear Swim Families- As you may have read (above) the club is hosting a 100 FR challenge on Tuesday December 9th....the $1 to swim the event will go to the Jeno Tihanyi Bursary Fund.

this will require many parents to come out and help time/start the challenge. The Level 3's have been asked to attend that evening as well. The Coaches think it would be great if the Novice swimmers could come out and cheer the swimmers on too!

To celebrate the event and with Christmas approaching- we thought perhaps we could have a pizza party afterwards in the Bahnuck Lounge- starting at 6:30 pm... this would be for ALL that attend ( parents/coaches/swimmers/cheerers! included)

To get a better idea on how many pizzas we should order- perhaps you could email if you and your swimmer(s) will be attending and volunteering for this challenge.

As mentioned above - a 20-30 minute warm up- starting at 4:30 pm-
